well its based on the comic tat takes from history and gives it that touch of fantasy hence all of those creatures, don't forget greeks at the time belived a lot in mythological creatures and so on so frank miller took into aspect those ideals and added his own touch of writing. It is not a film about history, but an novel adaptation and on totally different note, the film broke the record for march for the biggest grossingf film in the first weekend..70million $

dude its the whole bloody point of the movie mate its where an actuall event has been taken by the author and depicted in his own fantasy way . you accept it for what it is Fantasy loosely based on real events it will make a good story .

its sor to flike warhammer 40,000 set in the distant future fo all their techniological advances tnaks look like the ones form ww1 adn th eequipment of regular imperial guard are taken from ww2 and modern day i mean in reality it would havebeen greater tohave had hover tnaks and other bs but that the way they designed it and it still has its own charm .

First off all, as it starts, some acting was mediocre at it's best. isek ed tara lpantomina tal milied li jamlu tteachers liskola :( . Actors where very unexperienced. Editing was as usual, effects at its best... plot as its based on a comic... it does not ends as the comic... it has an additional part rather Americanized ending. Directing was limited since it was taken from a comic book. Still it was a great movie, since it has an epic story it holds you. Final Verdict: Could have been better... or we expected too much

For those those that want to watch it, a new dvdscr is out, very good quality so dont be put off by previous cams n such. Its near dvd quality.

the movie is based on frank millers comic book, not the actual battle so u have to compare it to that not history.

it was a good movie, fantastic fighting scenes, excellent script. it was everything i expected to be. just like sin city, i give it a 10/10.

it is very true to historical accounts, in fact the first wave of Persians (around 10,000) were slaughetered by the Spartans who only lost 2 or 3 men! The passageway they fought in was no wider then a chariot!

Can't wait till it arrives in Malta, I don't wanna spoil it by watching some crappy DVDSCR.. the graphics and audio are the highlights of the movie

Some parts of the Movie Gerald Butler(leonidas) cannot hide his scottish accent... i dont know if it was supposed to be on purpose but i dont think so...

The guy who plays Xerxes (the Persian God-King) (Santoro) is the same actor who plays Paulo (the recently dead/paralaysed guy) in Lost.

The changeover is amazing :O . His voice was pitched down to better suit his role.


About the movie itself, it's awesome. I love the artwork, the colours are used amazingly, with the only colour fully saturated being the red of the Spartans' capes. The story is nicely laid out with a good meaning - doing everything to defend their homeland and "freedom". The effects are great - the slow-motion to fast forward to slow-motion again thing is awesome.

the multiple "roars", " traitor" (the council were retards too?) and slamming of the same ideas makes the film repetitive and boring.

all they needed in the end was captain America suits and George dubya bush saying "for freedom". To make a good old propaganda video.

well if u read the comic most of those ideas are all featured in and yes i did read it, i have the pdf of the 5 comics if u wish :p in fact the whole crew of 300 men underwent 6 weeks of rigorous training so as to achieve the build required of the comic and many of the creatures are featured in the comic itself

exactly though there are parts of the film that did actually happen in history eg the final part of the narration is taken off the the true king leonadis' grave and "come back with ur shield or on ur shield" was a common saying from spartan women to the husbands going out to war

becuase the abs are as big if not bigger than the pecs(no proportion), if he continues to train he will get a bloated stomach which is very much like having a fat belly, both are ugly

Well the comic is based on a true story so there are Many things ud find in the original historical story. But frank miller used a bit of his imagination when drawing his book =)

he was in fact inspired by the 1960's film the 300 spartans and he addmitted to changing a lot of the aspects such as fighting formation and creatures to make the story more of a tale rather then a simple retelling of a history epic

Since you brought the topic back up... i'll post my opinion cuase i saw it 3-4 days ago

the movie's story is quite short and straight to the point no secrets and no twists!

but... it was still enjoyable and not boring imo!
