Im about to install a SATA 1 hard disk on socket A motherboard and according to what I read I need to install the sata drivers by means of a floppy disk.

Problem is , there is no floppy drive mounted on the pc, and don't even have a floppy disk ! lol

Is there a way to avoid using a floppy ????

you probably dont even need a floppy disk - you can set your motherboard in the bios to make your sata ports 'emulate' parallel ata boards. i remember this was possible on 865/nforce boards dunno if it still applies

did you manage to install without a floppy?

cos the psu im getting doesnt have a floppy connector :| and i dont know an alternative how to install the sata drive

tho i have an ide hard disk, so maybe i install windows on it and then install the drive when i start windows (i still need windows to be on the sata drive) or stick the floppy drive to another psu

but still sucks as a solution, cant you install them from cd / pendrive / something ?
