the funny thing about this is that this content does not appear on the x360 version (yet).

Sony have just announced a PSP redesign

The system will be 33% lighter, 19% slimmer, and will feature a better battery life and faster loading times.

In addition, the system will be able to output to a TV! This means your pictures, videos, and games will all be playable on a big screen if you so choose.

Sony will be releasing a $199.99 "entertainment pack," featuring the redesigned PSP in white, Daxter, Family Guy: Freakin' Sweet Collection, and a 1GB memory stick. There will also be a Star Wars entertainment pack, featuring Battlefront: Renegade Squadron for $199.99, starting in October.

Its the only real news for Sony up till now and some people are already lamenting that there isn't the 8gb flash memory rumored prior to E3.

Games wise the PS3 is suffering, boasting mostly short term exclusivity. I believe the most exciting announcement till now is how Home will be integrated in the system.

They still have to announce their first party titles so there is hope yet.

However, that Killzone 2 is awesome... i must admit. And a million thumbs up to UT3 ofc :dance:

Overall quite a good show from Sony. They have some interesting things coming up although I feel that the 360 trumps PS3 in terms of exclusive games at present. Very few of the games appearing exclusively on PS3 really pique my interest. I am sure that will eventually change. Killzone 2 looks extremely good and I guess its more fun to play than Gears of War, which was a let down for me all things considered.

In my opinion they should have left the news on the PS3 price cut for E3. That would have made one kick ass key note. But I guess they had to divulge the news earlier than planned after news of the price cut leaked.

They should have expanded more on how Home will have trophies and achievements. Having Kojima reaffirm his loyalty towards Sony was a good move but it would have been nice to see some actual gameplay instead of another trailer for MGS4. Will have to wait for the demo in Tokyo next week.

The only MGS game which is a true exclusive is Snake Eater (and Portable Ops if you're counting PSP aswell, not refering to Metal Gear Acid ofcourse, different series ;)). MGS 1 + 2 were released on other formats.

MGS4 will be a PS3 exclusive as long as it makes money for Konami. If it does not sell in the desired amounts on PS3 Konami have said recently that they will consider other consoles. The chances of it not selling well depends on how many people decide to get a PS3 in the coming months leading up to Xmas.

Overall I still believe that the 360 has a better lineup than the PS3. At E3 Microsoft decided to focus on games which are coming out in 2007 instead of parading stuff that will appear in 2008 and they still had a very good line up compared to PS3. Many titles for the Sony console - including MGS4 which got the limelight during the keynote - will not appear before 2008. Does Sony afford to lose another holiday period to Microsoft? Only time can tell.

The article says how MGS4 may not be an exclusive to PS3. It will be an exclusive at launch, that much is certain. If it ever appears on other platforms I think it will always be a year or so after PS3 release.

In other news: Rumble may be heading to the sixaxis (http://www.gametrailers.com/viewnews.php?id=4871) . This is great news since frankly, its something that the PS3 should have had from the beginning. I would have preferred rumble over motion sensing anytime.

this best thing about this game is that the cars actually change the track's surface everytime they go round it. it is supposed to change the gameplay completely.

then again gfx are nothing in par to CMR: Dirt but the gameplay is just spot on

I read in a preview that the mud marks made by the cars are not that deep and do not make much of a difference on the course of 3 laps (which is the maximum at present) Hopefully they will fine tune it so that this feature has a greater effect on gameplay. The technology is in place anyways.

Still though don't ever forget that Microsoft started things a year before Wii and PS3 became released. This really helped them specially in the game's catalogue. If the PS3 had to be released a year before I'm pretty danm sure it would be the better choice.

Quite true, I am not praising Microsoft on their merits although they struggled a lot to get to the point where they are now in the console business and their effort has to be commended. Nevertheless I am explaining why I, as a gamer, think the 360 is the best choice for those who can only get one console at the moment. I bought the 360 about 3-4 months ago. If I had to chose again I would still buy a 360 over a PS3. Not saying that this will be the case until the next generation just giving my opinion of the current scene.

Also remember that the European release date for the PS3 was a full 6 months after the rest of the world, so it would be more accurate to say that the 360 had a 6-8 months head start.

I still think it's worthed considering you still need to shell out more for 1/2 games and a controller. The only defect is that you've got a limited game choice but it isn't a loss either. Just use Ebay ;)

BTW: Ps3 owners check out the game The Darkness..it's frikkin mind blowing. I'm not much of a shooter fan but The Darkness is for avantgarde players. Some crazy and cool shit in it.

Anyone playing the Ace Combat 6 demo? Its out on Xbox Live and its eye poppingly amazing. Gameplay wise its a cross between simulation and arcade (leaning slightly more on the arcade side of things) and its bloody good fun to play.

I do not think it's totally arcadish. Your plane can stall for instance and you have a cockpit view. Afterburner Climax (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/After_Burner_Climax) would be a totally arcadish flight game.

We just got a hands on with Nyko's Wii Party Station and we can safely say that it's crazy. Crazy awesome. It's got pretty much everything you want to have when you're having a Wii house party, and it's designed cheaply enough ($24.99) for every Wii-owning family to use as an accessory to enhance their gaming.

But the best part is, of course, the chip holder. Nyko told us that they were going to re-evaluate the design and increase the size (making it deeper and wider) to accommodate more chips. The amount in there is enough for one person, but as a party tray it's fairly under-stocked. But the idea is great.

There are LCD scoreboards (so you can keep track of which one of the four of you is winning), Wiimote holders, a drawer for Nunchucks, a fan (like the bowling alley) for sweaty gamers, four freezable soda cup holders (with built-in gels to maintain coldness), and a chip and dip holder for, obviously, chips and dip. We didn't eat any of their chips, because it was presumably sitting out all day getting poked at by sweaty journalists.

The soda holders were nice and solid, and has the gels on the inside so it keeps your soda cold for a while longer outside the fridge. The tray holds two Nunchucks, which is usually enough for most four-player games. The LCD scoreboard wrks by manually adding or subtracting a point depending on whoever won a game (works for every game, obviously). The fan's definitely a great touch for everyone who's throwing the Wiimote thanks to sweaty palm syndrome.

I hope there won't be any delays and Europe will have the new psps this November. I'm going to the UK and I intend to trade in my old psp for one of the new slims @GAME stores. Too bad the smudge problem is still there ;(

New psp got 3.60 on it, and it can become undowgradable by linking some idstorage keys on rom

Less weight will make a big difference for long hours psp gaming. My wrists were almost destroyed during my 1st run of MGS portable ops.

My current firmware is 3.01. Tbh it won't make a difference for me since I don't hack/crack/use 3rd party software on it...

yeah true, it just wasn't smooth enough

I have not read about the removal of the IR port although even if it were true its no big deal. I never found a use for it and prefer being able to connect the thing to a TV over having IR capabilities anytime. Overall the PSP redesign was a good announcement. Much better than the Halo Edition 360:\:

Lost Odyssey is just another JRPG. Its good news if you like that kind of stuff but, like Blue Dragon, it might be quite short on innovation. I plan of getting both these games mind you, just not at launch.

Killzone 2 is looking positively amazing with excellent use of blur effects and depth of field combined with an atmospheric color palette and great animation. The environmental destruction is a nice bonus.

This might be a Halo killer :cool:

Actually those are games we knew about... E3 unveiled relatively few games this year. Viva Pinata Party Animal, Infamous, a new Super Mario Kart and Wii Fit are all that come to mind. Plus a few games to be released on network (Pain, Marathon etc).

Loads of info on games we knew about. Gametrailers.com is exploding with new trailers. I just cannot keep up :o
