does that give them the right to stop you from writing what you want ? May i remind you that you paid to by a console and paid to buy a game...It's not as if they are giving xbox's out for free

who the fuck cares about linux ?

careful i might hurt you :@

yeah. their console, their rules. these kind of blacklisting options exist within every company. no need to make such a fuss just because you can't insert wording which is against microsoft's policy.

so what if you're paying for the service? that doesn't mean anything; you still have to abide by the rules.

but if you buy it, it will be yours, your property, so you can do whatever you want

I am totally open to accept a good reason why they shouldn't allow this. Yes it is freedom of speech. The point that it's their console and their rules doesnt hold too well..for one thing you bought the console yourself..you paid money to be able to play it therefore you should be free to write whatever you want (within the limits of deceny) in your nickname..Just cos the company has a problem with linux, doesnt mean the users do..Microsoft is therefore deciding for it's users..a definite breach of freedom of speech in general.

I mean is this were a free console you got for free with a copy of MS office and they need the advertising as revenue from it, then yes, linux would be harming them actively as they depend on this revenue, but in the case it is, it's amazingly out of place. This is not fanboyism as some of you have taken the chance to say..This is all about the restriction of rights in place all the time around...

And no, I never was restricted from writing ubisoft in my name in CoD2, or activision in UT2k4 or any other games..So that this happens all the time as someone said is not true

Listen man, you live in Malta, and pay taxes, but you still have to abide by Malta's laws.

Same with the xbox, you have your xbox, and you paid for it, but you still have to obey microsoft's rules.

I personally find no problem with it. Funnily enough, it's only linux fanboys who find a problem with this, hence -- fanboyism

Plus the xbox is produced at a loss for Microsoft. So they rely on revenue from game contracts etc. So there you go. The xbox is an advertisment for microsoft aimed at game companies, to release their games on xbox too.

Microsoft can do whatever they want to with their consoles and properties. Still, this does not change the fact that this limitation is extremely stupid an unnecessary.
