Microsoft is apparently making strong examples of anyone trying to sneak into the Halo 3 Epsilon test. The crackdown came to light when a 17-year-old Minnesotan who goes by the handle "Scar" posted a tale of woe on the forums of the Halo-focused modding site Se7ensins.com. His post was accompanied by a photo of his ban notice from Xbox Live, which expires on December 31, 9999 AD--some 7,447 years after the events in Halo are supposed to take place.

How did the eternal banhammer fall on Scar? "A friend said he got the Epsilon from a friend and offered me to glitch it onto my account with what you call the two-controller exploit," he told GameSpot. "I downloaded it from Marketplace and played it for maybe six hours or so all alone, in custom games and campaign. [Then] it would kick me offline every time i tried to play Epsilon. It wasn't until the next day when i signed on that I found out i got banned."

Despite being a self-described "achievement whore" with a GamerScore of over 61,000, Scar--who doesn't want his real name made public--has no plans to appeal his ban. "Other people i know that had this happen to them at the same time as me called support and had no luck," he rued. "I know of at least 10 others that downloaded it and got banned till 9999."

When asked for comment, reps for Microsoft said the company was not officially commenting on the 7,992-year bans. However, a source close to Bungie said the ban screen "looked legit," wryly adding, "Sorry, great, great, great, great grandkids.

its going to get fixed locally by the end of next week hopefully thanks to xtreme, and have it's exhaust fans replaced to a much higher rpm and an other internal fan added for increased circulation.

i will keep you informed :)

btw avaloner, xtreme's technichan is also able to replace the DVD lasers. just pm me if you would like his contact number.

that is to prove how strong the ps3 is and that it will work good even when subjected to the heating that the xbox would take, and even more. xD

Mine is 2 months old now, bought from scanuk m8, i'm still in the game /crosses fingers and curses the dreaded *shivers*RRoL*shivers*.

Imho, i'd be afraid of someone trying to take up Microsoft's job (repairing 360s) in his own hands (without having the billions to back it up :P) but from what i've seen on this forum seems they're trying to do something at least, though what should be done is simply getting support direct from Microsoft to our island heh.

i pity u guys for havin ur ps3 die on u :P but u should pity me coz bioshock (the only decent xbox exclusive) is on ur console. hopefully ti comes to ps3 soon coz i read in a magazine that it has a limited exclusivity

If you ask me this generation of consoles has been pretty weak up till now. The 360 is not reliable while the PS3 started expensive with little to warrant the cost. The Wii is interesting but how many good hardcore games does it have?

probably only metroid prime 3 , the mario series are quite boring now =/. thye need to have gta. remember their graphics engine is not that good

They got Metroid Prime and Legend Of Zelda. Metroid prime, by PC standards, is fairly run of the mill. Zelda is an awesome game. Have to disagree with you about Mario games. Super Mario Galaxy is looking awesome and till now feedback has been extremely positive.

i have to disagree wid u here sayin that bioshock is the only good xbox exclusive when it has more than the ps3 im not sayin anythin against the ps3 but dnt go mouthin off against the 360 statin false facts.

Im on my 2nd 360 my 1st 1 gave me the ring of death but it was in a bad place wid no fan on it...now i keep mine elevated on 2 pieces of wood to clear the air intake and wid a large fan blowing from the left to clear the air at the back and underneath seems to be ok now had it all summer and no problem i suggest people do something of the same if u want it to last hehe

if ur thinkin halo is a good ps3 exclusive isnt. hopefully ur 2nd xbox wont break down as ive heard that they have put in new heatsinks to help heat flow

some people think im crazy for not likin MGS like when u say u dnt see halo 3 as a brilliant exclusive in my eyes MGS doesnt look anythin special either but loads of people seem to love it same as halo

very true, MGS was the only game apart from assasins creed that made me buy the ps3 instead of xbox.
