mela ... kif tafu jiena ma addejtx mill english biss u ma nistax nithol UNI all course Bachelor of Engineering [mechanical] ax lingwa ma andiex.
bazikament andi 2 options u ma nafx xha naqbad namel ...
1) Nahdem + privat tal ingliz (mux sejjer JC) u f'may nerga nati l-ezami. jekk naddi - nithol UNI, jekk ma naddiex nerga resit (u jek nerga ma naddix minnu nara xnamel dak inhar).
2) Ninsa li nahdem, immur privat tal ingliz xorta wahda, pero nithol MCAST. F'may nati l-ezami tal english ... jekk naddi nitlaq mill mcast u nithol UNI, jekk ma naddiex natih Resit - jekk nerga ma naddiex inkompli il course tal MCAST u nerga nirrepeti l-ingliz.
lunika two courses li qisom "laqtuni" tal mcast (ax ta bilfors tipo...) huma il 'MCAST-BTECH Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering" u il "Part-66 Aircraft Maintenance Category 'A' Licence Course" (tal lufthansa technik andikun) ...
issa jiena li nixtieq hu li nkompli fuq aircraft engineering, igifiri it 2 kors qisu iktar addattat alijja. Pero, jekk nazel lilu ha nigi niddependi fuq l-ingliz biss jekk nitholx UNI jew le.
biex nithol Bachelor of engineering jonqosni biss li ngib il matriculation certificate, jew inkella emm xi alternattive bil courses tal mcast (li huma: Five passes at Grade 5 or better in the Secondary Education Certificate
Examination, including: English Language and Maltese; a pass in Systems
of Knowledge; and A Higher Technician Diploma of the City and Guilds of the London Institute
course no. 8000 in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent as considered by the
Board, and a pass at Advanced Level at Grade C or better in: Pure
Mathematics)
problem: course number ma sibtux..lol. u ma nafx bliema courses tal mcast nista nithol uni all dak il course ...
u l-ikbar problema li andi: irrid niddeciedi kollox sa ada ax il hamis hemm l-applications tal MCAST .. :(
help mijjjjjj
edit: regarding application uekk tal courses ... nahseb il course "Part-66 Aircraft Maintenance Category 'A' Licence Course" nista ninsieh .. ax mux qied imnizzel f'din il pic: http://www.mcast.edu.mt/popup/mcast.jpg (il code ta dak il course huwwa 07/01/15)

Trid tara naqra l-options xifissru:
Jekk tazel option 1:
Option 2:
Andek il-haga li ma tkunx tlift sena jekk terga ma jirnexxilekx. Imma haga wahda nejdlek. MCAST nimmagina trid tiffoka fuq is suggetti li jkollok, u se tkun iebsa tistudja english u MCAST stuff at the same time. Se jkollok titlaq ftit lil wiehed biex tiffoka fuq liehor... Jaf ma jirnexxilekx fit tnejn habba f'hekk.
Haga ohra dwar option 2 hiuja li ma jkollokx income, imma jkollok stipendju. Imbad jekk jirnexxilek tidhol uni, l-ewwel sena tamila minajr stipendju imma. So jkollok sena bla income ta xejn sakemm ma tahdimx xi part time job wkoll.
Considering income wkoll, sena barra + work tider tajba.

Mate... dont hit the workplace before you`ve completed your studies.
No really, you wont study F all !
After working from 8 to 5, you`re going to study? Whilst your budds are out having a pint or preparing for a night out? F that.
Dont illude yourself that work & study is possible. Unless its Study + work.
Get into an Mcast course related to engineering, it will help you remain focused on topic and keeps your study routine simple. You`ll have a stipend and you`ll be out and about with fellow students.
You`ve got untill 65 to work... theres no hurry to start.

Option 1.
Me and spidey can tell you that if you'd take part66 you'd have no time for studying at all.
If you want to apply for the course though you'll have to wait for mid-April when we'll finish. It's a really good course though and worthwhile.

it is also quite difficult to go straight to HND, since they usually only allow students that are in mcast already in national diploma, so most probably you'll have to stay in national
I know it has requirements A lvl but it doesn't work that way at least in ICT

dynamited .. with work + study i meant a part time job (max 25hrs / week) and study (2hrs/week , private lessons) - so i dont think i won't have time to study at home etc... plus my friends are at university so they won't be hanging out during the week (and in winters i prefer staying home relaxed).
on the other hand, just like what peroxide said - either i focus on one thing (in this case on the English exam as i really wish to join university) or else i try to catch up with 2 things and fail to achieve both of them.
i was thinking of a part time job while going to the private lessons once a week ... i'll save some money and have more free time to spend on my hobbies - la giet hekk, giet hekk memx xtamel.
the thing that's holding me back is the fear that i'll fail my exam once again
edit: liquid andek ragun ... anka jiena dik tbezzani illi naqbad nithol higher national diploma f'daqqa ... ax bhala requierments jitolbok jew l-A levels jew inkella in national diploma tal mechanical engineering ..... nigi qisni bdejt l-affari min saqajha :S

I passed throught this myself. I failed in English twice, including the resit and i wanted to go to university at all costs.
First of all, change the subject. Its better to tak a different language as oneball said. I wasnt a genius english kid but i always got good grades although i could nt get my intermediate. I changed to Italian. The percentage of passes in Italian is much much higher than those of english.
I started working as well, 3-4 times a week from 9-4 and i had private lessons once per week every friday. I cant say i was focused 100% as one tends to take things lighter since its only 1 subject and its an intermediate.
The best thing is that i had a great private tutor and helped me alot.
Imo, find a work cause you will get bored doing nothing. Its not like your having 6 exams. but dont go to mcast for a single year. i was going to do that but it would have been a big mistake. If your going to mcast, stay at mcast.

my choice is either maltese or english, but maltese - i have to start from scratch while english - i have to improve my grammer (i know the literature book...) and now its 3 hours for 3 essays and not for 4 essays...
most probably i'll be doing english again.
regarding the job, i still don't know what to look for. atm i'm working as a part time waiter (it was intended for summer ONLY) .. hence the reason why i want another kind of job. i dont feel like i have to work as waiter cause of my 'qualifications' - but i just dont know what kind of job i can look for lol ...

Becuase you got 2 A levels and some intermediates doesnt mean a waiter job is not suitable anymore. Many people at university have part time jobs as waiters, mcdonalds, barmans etc. Its good cause most of the times its the weekend you work and therefore can dedicate more time to study during the week. On the other hand less partying in the wwekends maybe but you have to choose.
If you havent done a revesion of paper you cant say that you know the books and literature becuase most people fail from the literature part. I failed from that and i knew the books, how to explain the stories, quotes everything and yet i still failed in the literature essay.
Focus on everything. and always my opionion, change the subject while your still in time. English tends to get harder each year and you have tried it twice already.

naqbel ma li qed tghid ... jiena kieku addejt kien bi hsibni nibqa waiter fil weekends biss. imma issa gejt li ha jkolli 2hrs fil gima "biss" skola ... allura ha nispicca nahdem xi 5 darbiet fil gima (vs dawk il darba - darbtejn fil weekend li kieku addejt) .. allura ha nispicca nitqalla minn waiter lol.
edit: bazikament iddecidejt xha namel ... ha nzomm il part time li andi sakemm insib xi haga ahjar .. u privat tal ingliz. namel il licenzja tal karozza bil kwiet, u in the mean time nil*** infaddal xi haga fil but. U jekk nsib nara fjen namel xi course bhall tal AutoCAD uekk, course li zgur nigi bzonnu il quddiem.

why not work to help yourself?
work... go with ef to england or some english speaking country and learn some english the 'proper way'
being in a foreign country learning a language really boasts your self esteem.
Its an experience I would suggest

Pawlu's got a point. I think this is one option you should consider well unless you get homesickness. ;)

heh English is the bane of many students.. the only way to really learn it is to start reading books from an early age.. so you're a bit late :p not to discourage you or anything but private lessons won't do much for you unless you start cramming into books!
i see you are also very keen on getting into University, which is good, but remember that once you're in you have to commit yourself for 4 years of studying. half of the students that go into Univ drop out by 3rd year.. so make sure you have the brains + dedication to stick it out. Just remembe there are other paths you can take, although univ is the one i would strongly recommend.
in the mean time i would go to mcast and study (well read) english at the same time

We had 3 essays not 4 this year...now they apparently reduced it to 2. If you want to go to uni, then by all means spend a year studying english. The best advice I can give you is that you are only scratching the surface when you are studying english at school or in a private lesson. To do well, you must read books, watch programs that are in english, speak the language as much as possible etc...these things are what ultimately allow you to get a good grasp on the subject that you previously were unable to attain. Good luck :)

Something that might help you a lot.....read books, watch cnn and euronews, listen to bbc news on the radio. It might be boring but it helps a lot!

You should also use English whenever and wherever you can. An example would be this forum. Try posting in English from now on, with no abbreviations or 1337speak, and with good punctuation, grammar, etc.
And, as someone else mentioned, start reading some books. For example, I love Robert Ludlum, his books are awesome. You don't need to spend money, just go to the library at Furjana, or is that Valletta I'm not sure - and get a couple of books from there.
