Drowen: you have any ideas where i could link it? i was thinking of going to retake some of it coz some of the bastions came a bit overexposed

Nice pics scar, what cam/lens are you using?


for the sun, what you have to do is shoot in manual or use -EV compensation. Either way your target is to use a small aperture (f11 or larger) and then set the shutter speed so the picture is underexposed.

If i had a tripod there what i would have done is to take 3 pics - 1 correctly exposed and 2 underexposed -1EV and -2EV and then superimpose them with photoshop

when you are taking of a person with the sun behind them (if you cant possibly change the angle) - use a lens hood or try shield the lens with your hand and use the flash.

the problem is that in-camera flashes many times will force the shutter speed to 1/200 of a sec (on the 350d/400d for example) and the photo will come over exposed so try use a smaller aperture to reduce this

When you post a photo you should start giving a technical description of the photo :) like exposure etc...

Good idea!

Shot from near manoel island at twilight not in the full night. Inkella its almost impossible to get even lighting. In an ideal world you try meter to keep the tone the same and fix the exposure for all shots in the pano. However with the various light sources around valletta its almost impossible - so i left the cam on evaluative (full scene) metering.

- Aperture Priority mode, ISO 200 (100 and 200 are about the same so you can reduce the length of the exposure like this)
- Exposure compensation +2/3 of a stop. Remember that in dark areas/ shadows you get noise so better to overexpose and then adjust in PP - Only works if you're shooting RAW, and the technique is called "Exposing to the right"
- Canon 70-200 Lens on a tripod @ 70mm (fixed for all shots). In an ideal world you can zoom in at the edges to correct perspective imma i dont know the maths.
- Aperture f8, and variable shutter speed.
- Mirror Lockup on + remote release cable used
- Canon 350D
