Was speculated to be released in Q4, 2007 due to a GPU in development codenamed G92, but the anticipation of such a launch has dissipated somewhat after the refresh of the GeForce 8 series (revealed to be the G92 GPU), instead of naming according to the development codename. The GeForce 9 series is now expected in early 2008. The 9th generation GeForce will be DirectX 10.1 Compatible.
The cards will cost: (in the USA , for Malta add an extra LM30-40 approx)
-The 9800GTX for 549$ > 649$ --- LM160 > LM190
-The 9800GTS for 399$ > 449$ --- LM115 > LM130
------- 9800GTX Specs -------

Picture above is of an 8800 Ultra NOT of the 9800GTX and i left the pic because it looks meaty.
GeForce 9800 GTX will be over two times faster than a GeForce 8800 Ultra in real world games and applcations.
65nm process will allow for better yields and better power consumption. power consumption will be lower than that of a GeForce 8800 GTX.
Release date : November 2007. There will be TWO products at launch: The flagship GeForce 9800 GTX and the second fastest GeForce 9800 GTS.
AMD is readying Barcelona, and Intel is preparing its own native quad-core chip in Nehalem to hit at the same time. ATI will be prepping the R600 refresh for the end of the year and Nvidia will be hitting with the GeForce 9800. ATI's R600 is like 450 GigaFlop, G92 high-end graphics card will deliver almost a Teraflop of computing performance.. Tough task for AMD/ATI. Nvidia and Intel are leading.

Would love to see the turn out with one of these , an intel Penryn cpu and 2GB of OCZ ram !

madonna heatsinks lol :|
for twice the performance of an 8800 ultra, i guess it isn't that pricey after all. but i guess Nvidia's statement is a bit too ambitious. we'll wait and see.

yep ure right infact i was surprised that theres a pre built card already with the G92 chip :S
i suppose it will be the same size or slightly longer than the 8800gtx ux .

damn right. as regards nvidia's pricing method i guess that they might come out with something less pricy that an 8800 at that power. i've been noticing that ATI and Nvidia have already started to fight for the best price/performace ratio (like 8800). fingers crossed

The 8800Gt is also coming out by next month, slightly less in perfomance by the 8800 GTX and half the Price
Edit: it's out actually this week http://www.mtmalta.com/product_info.php?cPath=42_233_238&products_id=41137

transportaion doesnt cost LM100 extra, id say it would be around lm250-300, if they intended to keep a high price
else if we are lucky it will cost lm200 (for me is still to much anyway)

the 8800gtx is currently priced at around lm230 locally so therfore dont expect it to be any lower than that .

well after playing crysis, i will wait for 9 series especially if other sequels are to be released in the future. 4-5months of discrete gaming is worth 1.5-2years of jaw dropping gfx

Nvidia to launch GeForce 9 series in February
Here are some small but interesting new pieces of information about the next big step in GPU development from Nvidia.
Nvidia is ready for its next-generation GPU launch. According to sources at graphics card makers, the company plans to launch its GeForce 9 series GPU after the Lunar New Year in February.
The first chip to rollout of in GeForce 9 family will be the D9E, a high-end product that adopts 65nm manufacturing. The new product will also support DirectX 10.1 and Shader Model 4.1, revealed the sources.
In addition to the D9E, Nvidia will roll out a mid-range GeForce 9 family product named D9P in June 2008. The new GPU will adopt 55nm processing, the sources pointed out.

It seems the first 9-series card won’t live up to the hype every new Nvidia card receives.

NVIDIA’s yet-to-be released GeForce 9800 GX2 in the “flesh.” We reveal some of the specs and what should be expected.
The best way to think of the GeForce 9800 GX2 card is as an 8800 GPU that has been die shrunk to 65nm and placed in an SLI configuration in a “single” card. The 9800 GX2 is very reminiscent of 7950 GX2 of days past. (And we loved the 7950 GX2 at launch, but terrible support and diminishing returns soon painted it as one of NVIDIA’s biggest failures since the 5800 series.)
The GeForce 9800 GX2 will launch in late February or early March as it now stands and will replace the 8800 Ultra (single GPU) card in NVIDIA’s high-end product line up. The 9800 GX2 is said to be at least 30% faster than a 8800 Ultra. While it is not clear from the pictures below, we are told it will support “Quad SLI.”
GeForce 9800 GX2
1GB Frame Buffer
Two PCBs
Two 65nm GPUs Total
256 Stream Processors Total
All of the information here comes from sources overseas that we consider trustworthy. Obviously there are some specifications that could be a bit more clear, especially on the memory bus. We would expect to see two 768MB frame buffers per GPU here, but that is not what is spelled out. We are guessing 512MB per GPU currently.

well I have a gx2 and never evr had a problem wit it. Get good frame rate for all the gaes right now And i'v ebeen using it for a year and a half. on the vga charts it's still there competing with the 8800, although now the gt and new gts just beat it but they came just now hux...
