so how did u compile that image ? by superimposing a bunch of different aperture settings of the shot ? because as far as i know HDR has to be done with more than one image right?

what program did you use??? Photomatix Pro

I heard even photoshop can do HDR imaging...

3 images with different exposure ... done by the manual feature on any digi SLR (if i'm not mistaken)

then Generate HDR ... 2nd step is Tone mapping and holy crap you got a HDR image ... sounds easy but its not if it's your first try... i never tried it myself.

3 Images with different exposure settings. ie , dark shot, normal one, bright one.
and rendered with photomatrix..

You can do it with photoshop too but I found photomatrix much more flexible.

nice attempt there, the blueness is much to my liking however i dont like how the foreground turned out.

try getting a shot with some clouds it really gives an intense feel!

i know what u mean... shots with clouds sometimes make it look unrealistic but delivers a great photo!

you need low and high exposures to create a gr8 HDR especially with clouds which cannot be achieved with hand held... so you need a tripod for sure!

stewwi you have some landscape photos on flickr that could have been gr8 candidates for HDR!!... keep it up... and keep em'coming

Yeah the blue came out kinky, filfat the fave part of the pic is the area next to filfla. Ill see what i can do about the foreground the colours do seem a bit of.

I dont have control over weather yet. when I was there it was a nice day mhemmx xtaghmel :p

All of my landscape shots so far were handheld.... I always keep the tripod in the back of the car imma somehow I always manage to leave it behind when I need it! :@:@

and without it its hard to get good expos for an HDr but ill keep trying :)

thx for the comments

dude i found some nice noobies tutorial... for when holding it hand held there is a feature on the SLR (i have it, you must aswell) it's called AEB auto-exposure-bracketing minalija what it does is you set it +2 for example and automatically increases the exposure by 2 with every click so you can take multi-shots by touching only the shoot button... but i see this only applicable for day shots not even sun down because when you have a dark atmosphere it's very difficult to get a still photo by hand held.

Thats what I use :) but you still need a tripod ax u have to take 3 shots and they have to be identical. Without one youll loose a lot of sharpness. I got away with it cause I took the image sitting down.

btw simple question... how did you take the picture? in what mode? TV / AV / M / P

I have mixed feelings about this photo -first of all (and i think the main scope of the photo) was the HDR conversion which is excellent - great detail without it looking fake: mega thumbs up.

What i'm not too fond of is the blur caused by the fact that you didnt have a tripod, and the haze which covers filfla (which is the main subject in the photo) however this isnt really your fault - weather can be naughty at times.

For these kind of shots apparently a graduated ND filter might help, i need to get me one of those before june.
