ps3 isnt 100% backward compatible..

As cabb said it isnt 100% backward compatible.

Rumors are that they are going to release ps2 emulation via firmware updates.

So its either you buy a second hand 60G PS3 or else go for the new 40Gb

I believe you can attach a laptop HD dive to the ps3 which are quite cheap nowadays.

Nope, not at all, neither do the Rainbow Six, Hitman, Splinter Cell (although I haven't seen the mechanics of the last one) and Ghost Recon series... but that's just me :)

Other than that I nearly play everything else. Except anything with a Final Fantasy tag on it...

I only played Metal Gear Solid 2 and it was a good game. Not a great game mind you, but it was fun. A bit too Japanese if you ask me with some obvious control issues which could have easily been sorted. I would not buy the PS3 for MGS 3 but I would get it if I had a PS3.

Best thing to do is buy the 40GB Ps3 and the PS2 Slim.
