ClubLAN'08 Goes Live Officially

Now comes that time of year...when ClubLAN goes live!

If you're in a hurry, go to the bottom.

After countless weeks of hard work and preparation, we have finally decided to officially announce ClubLAN '08. Yes, people, it's here. And it's going to be BIG! There's room for just over 180 people, so if you don't want to be left disappointed, as I'm sure some people were when they were put on the waiting list, book as fast as possible. We'll release a ticket date and location in the coming days.

First off, the dates. Book your leave for the 14th to the 17th August (that's 14/08/08 till 17/08/08), four days full of tournaments, competitions and fragging! (and maybe the odd wheelspin or two...)

On to the location. We're going to hold the LAN in Pembroke. There's ample space for everyone (1.15m per person), and the hall faces the sea, so there's good ventilation, especially at night. Hopefully now there won't be any complaints of the likes of "Uff xi shana!". Parking is also readily available.

Next, leagues. Currently, we have 5 'major' leagues: COD2, COD4, GRID, CNC3:KW, and FIFA '08 (for the uninitiated, that's Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 4, Race Driver: Grid, Command 'n' Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath, and FIFA '08). All games will be played with latest patches. We're still planning prizes, but we can assure you, they're going to be big (especially the COD4 prizes) Although these are major leagues, we're hardly restricting anyone from playing whatever they like (maybe the odd game of Worms or TF2?)

Summer: Sea, sun, partying and the events any gaming enthusiasts look forward to: LAN parties! ClubLAN'08, the largest and one of the most highly anticipated LANs in Malta is due to go live in less than a month's time. By next Tuesday, the tickets will be available for purchase at €30 each from the following establishments:
MMD-Trading, Msida
LANner's Gaming Cafe`, Msida
Comp1337 IS, Birkirkara

Just ask the sales person present at the particular shop to show you the available seatings, choose to your leisure, and prepare for a four day blast. Provide the details whether you have a CRT or TFT monitor, PSU Rating and which tournaments you will be participating in, and you are ready to go. Gamers under 16 years of age are required to provide the parental consent form upon request, which one can find under the details section of our website. 180 places are available, but do not hesitate in hopping to one of the resellers to buy your ticket, or you might end up being disappointed.
On Tuesday we will also be releasing all the information about the prizes, but just to give you a hint, there will be more than €2000 in cash, plus several hardware prizes, to be distributed through the official tournaments, namely:

Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath 2v2
FIFA 08
Racer Driver: GRID

due to low turnout, we were forced to downsize some of the prizes. Hope gamers still turn up to have fun, even though the prizes are not the most frivolous (thought they're not too shabby either). Sorry about this, but we're devoting every penny we're getting from the tickets for the prize money, it's just that not enough players bought their tickets.
