Azureus hogs too many resources. uTorrent doesn't need installation, minimal resources, best so far :)

uTorrent announce URL Handling Buffer Overflow

Posted on 13.02.2007 at 18:20 in Tech News by Martin
A potentially very dangerous vulnerability has been discovered in the latest version of popular BitTorrent client uTorrent. This could be exploited by attackers to take complete control of an affected system. This issue is due to a buffer overflow error when handling a torrent file containing an overly long announce URL, which could be exploited by remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands by tricking a user into opening a specially crafted torrent file or visiting a malicious web page.

All version of uTorrent are affected, including latest version 1.6 build 474 and prior. Theres already a working exploit for this floating on the internet. No fixed version has been released, as this is really fresh stuff. Although this exploit could be very dangerous, you need to download the infected torrent first and use it with this client. I recommend waiting for a new version of uTorrent (should be available within few hours, max days) and downloading only from trusted websites such as NewTorrents.info where are all torrents checked.

It is used when you have queues. If for example you have a limit to 2 files each time, and the rest queued, Force Download on another file will skip this queue and start.

It doesn't effect speeds :p

its in the name itself...you're forcing a download. If you have queues you use that command. its nothing special cos it is in azureus also.

EDIT: NOOOOO! DFragger posted a few seconds b4 me! DIE NOOB!

on the site of supertorrents i get this memo on top .
what does it mean actually ?

Your ratio has fallen below .500. As a member of the user class Noob, you are expected to keep a ratio over .500. If you download over 5GB's and have been a member for more then 2 weeks while your ratio is below .500, you will be banned from SuperTorrents. You have been warned.

Tnx .

Those torrent sites work as a give and take "society". So you need to keep a good ratio to avoid having your account deleted.

Ratio = what you upload / what you download . You must keep this ratio over 0.5 (You must upload half what you download, minimum).

So according to that banner, if you download over 5 gb and you still have a ratio < 0.5, after 2 weeks you will get deleted.

what if the ratio is still below .5, but you've been a member for over 2 weeks and not downloaded more than 5gb?

tbh im finding it very difficult to upload :(

Its a private site which provides very high quality in regards of torrents and speeds. Seeding is expected.

They have a seed bonus whereby u get bonus mb even if no one downloads from you. Just keeping seeding for some days 24/7

Which port and you got some firewall by any chance? Since its stating so there might be some filtering or blockage of some sort.

I use Comodo Pro and its very good actually.

I made an application control rule for TCP/UDP In/Out - ip range 0.0.0.0 - 255.255.255.255 u port range 0 - 65535 for Azureus.exe only.

I also made network control rule for TCP/UDP in where destination port is 55884.

The port i chose to use in azureus was 55884.

Still won't work & neither if I cloes Comodo :(
